ABSTRACT

Objective@#Understanding mental health status of students with learning disabilities in Beijing to provide a basis for mental health promotion of students with learning disabilities.@*Methods@#By means of random cluster sampling, 5 787 enrolled students in grade one and grade two of 11 public junior middle schools in Beijing were selected as the survey subjects. A self designed questionnaire was used to investigate the students’ learning disabilities and mental health status through anonymous self filling.@*Results@#About 11.6% students self reported learning disabilities. The proportions of students with learning difficulty in mathematical reasoning and calculation were higher, 44.1% and 40.7% respectively. The reported rate of mental health problems was 38.3%. The top four of the 10 symptoms were obsessive compulsive symptoms, learning pressure, emotional instability and anxiety(2.19±0.77)(2.17±0.99)(2.09±0.90)(2.07±1.08). Compared with students without learning disabilities, students with self reported learning disabilities had poorer mental health status(OR=1.47), and learning disabilities were related to most factors of mental health. Different types of learning disabilities were associated with different mental health factors.@*Conclusion@#Mental health problems of students with learning disabilities are higher than that of students without learning disabilities. It is necessary to strengthen the mental health support for students with learning disabilities and improve their mental health.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of pyruvate kinase M2 ( PKM2) gene expression in papillary thyroid carcinoma ( PTC). Methods Quantitative real-time PCR ( RT-qPCR) was used to detect the expression of PKM2 mRNA in benign thyroid nodules, PTC, and normal thyroid cells around nodules of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) specimens. Immunohistochemistry ( IHC) was used to detect the expression of PKM2 protein in thyroid tissue after thyroidectomy. The receiver operating characteristic curve was constructed to evaluate the diagnostic value of PKM2 in PTC. Results The expression of PKM2 mRNA was detectable in FNA specimens of thyroid nodules, higher in PTC than those in normal thyroid tissue and benign thyroid nodules (P<0.01). PKM2 expression level was correlated with diameter of PTC ( P<0.05) , but had no correlation with lymph node metastasis, BRAFV600E mutation, and American Joint Committe on Cancer( AJCC) stage ( P>0.05) . The expression level of PKM2 mRNA in FNA specimens of thyroid nodules was paralleled with the expression level of PKM2 protein in postoperation pathological tissues. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity of PKM2 gene in the diagnosis of PTC were 62.8%, 46.9%, and 95.7%, respectively. The accuracy and sensitivity of PKM2 combined with BRAFV600E were increased to 87.6%and 83.7%. Conclusion Detection of PKM2 gene in FNA specimens is highly specific in the diagnosis of PTC, making it a valuable molecular marker for preoperative diagnosis. The combination of PKM2 and BRAFV600E detection shows a higher diagnosis efficiency.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand the novel bat-borne hantavirus on Yunnan province.@*Methods@#Eighty-four bats were collected from Puer, Yunnan from July to August in 2016. A hantavirus, named as DodeHV, was identified in Pomona Roundleaf Bat by high-throughput sequencing technology. Nested or Semi-nested reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction was used to confirm and screen DodeHV, as well as to amplify its genome sequence by specific primers. Then homology and phylogenetic analysis of all three segments were conducted by using software MegAlign and MEGA 6.0.@*Results@#All the positive individuals are Pomona Roundleaf bats by PCR in this study and 4 out of 67 (5.97%) Pomona Roundleaf bats were positive. The complete ORF of DodeHV S Segment, the most sequence of M and the complete sequence of L segment were obtained. It shared the highest homology with the strain XSV-VN1982B4 found on Phu Tho Province, Viet- Nam in 2013, the nucleotide sequence identities of S, M, L segment compared with XSV was 79.0%, 79.2%, 79.9% respectively, and its amino acid sequence identities was 93.4%, 94.8%, 96.6% respectively. Meanwhile, phylogenetic analysis showed that DodeHV was also closely related to strain XSV-VN1982B4.@*Conclusions@#The discovery of DodeHV enriched the virus reservoir of our country which is meaningful to public health. It is indicated that there is potential risk of bat-borne DodeHV at cross-border infection at frontier.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the association of serum ghrelin level with cognition, hippocampal volume, and proton magnetic resonance spectrum ( [ 1 H ]-MRS ) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus ( T2DM) . Methods The T2DM patients cared at the Wuhan Fourth Hospital were recruited. Data on demographic characteristics and clinical parameters were collected. Ghrelin was measured by ELISA assay. Cognitive performance was assessed by the Montreal Cognitive Assessment ( MoCA ) and Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS). The changes of metabolites in hippocampus were detected by [1 H]-MRS, including N-acetyl asparate ( NAA) , choline ( Cho) , myo-inositol ( MI) , creatine ( Cr) . All patients were divided into 2 groups[cognitive impairment (CI) and non-cognitive impairment (NCI) groups] by MoCA. Results (1) Compared with patients in NCI group, the serum ghrelin level, bilateral hippocampal volume, and NAA/Cr ratio of [1H]-MRS metabolites in CI group were decreased, but MI/Cr and Cho/Cr ratios were increased(all P<0.05). (2) Serum ghrelin was positively correlated with a variety of RBANS scores ( including immediate memory, attention, delayed memory, and total scores) , bilateral hippocampal volume, and NAA/Cr ratio of [ 1 H]-MRS metabolites in T2DM patients, but it was negatively correlated with MI/Cr ratio and Cho/Cr ratio ( all P<0. 05 ) . ( 3 ) Logistic regression analysis showed that ghrelin was a protective factor of cognition in T2DM patients. Conclusions T2DM patients with cognitive impairment had lower levels of ghrelin, and serum ghrelin was postively correlated with their cognitive performance, hippocampal volume, and [1 H]-MRS metabolites, suggesting that serum ghrelin may be involved in the occurrence and development of cognitive dysfunction in patients with T2DM.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the influencing factors of strain ratio in diagnosing thyroid lesions of thyroid imaging reporting and data system (TI-RADS) 4-6 categories, and explore the application value of elastic strain ratio in differentiating malignant thyroid nodules from benign ones under different influencing factors. Methods A retrospective analysis was made on the pathologic data of 278 nodules undergone TI-RADS ultrasonography stratification and ultrasound elestography, and 105 nodules of TI-RADS 4-6 categories were selected as research objects. A receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to identify the cut-off point for differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules. A logistic regression model was established to analyze the factors affecting strain ratio in the differential diagnosis on thyroid nodules of TI-RADS 4-6 categories. Analyses were made in groups to judging the sensitive, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value and negative predictive of strain ratio under the impact of different factors. Results The best cut-off point of ROC curve for benign and malignant nodules was 0.54. It was found through the logistic regression model that the strain ratio value was closely related to the size, calcification, and thyroid diffuse disease, and strain ration was of higher value in the thyroid nodules which were less than 1 cm without calcification and thyroid diffuse disease. Conclusions Three factors including size, calcification, and diffuse lesions of the thyroid nodules can influence the elastic strain ratio of TI-RADS 4-6 thyroid nodules. Comprehensive analysis of these three influencing factors can improve the application value of elastic strain ratio in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules.
